Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe

You don’t expect anything other than innovation from Mercedes-Benz, and a look at their upcoming GLC SUVs hammers home the point. Their 2017 lineup includes the Mercedes-AMG® GLC 43, an SUV with the kind of power that makes some sports cars jealous. Their future vehicles include the GLC Coupe concept, an intriguing blend of sports car and SUV you never knew you wanted to test drive.

The GLC 43: High Class, High Performance

The GLC 43 is Mercedes-AMG®’s stunning mid-sized crossover for the 2017 model year. The GLC line is the old GLK line reimagined, with a more refined look and powerful handling. When you hop behind the wheel, the handling is evident from the get-go. The GLC 43 can do 0-60 in 4.9 seconds with its twin-turbo, 362 horsepower V-6 engine. The nine-speed automatic transmission features 4MATIC® all-wheel drive. The suspension is tuned the way you’d expect in a sports car. Overall, the driving experience is exceptional.

The car’s 384 lbs-ft of torque is biased at 69 percent toward the rear wheels for a more dynamic driving experience. You’ll also notice better acceleration and great traction even when you’re testing out that powerful horsepower. You also get five DYNAMIC SELECT transmission modes that you can set to eco, sport plus, or your own preference.

The GLC 43: Looks to Die For

Black is the new black, as far as the GLC 43 is concerned. The exterior is a gorgeous high-gloss black with chrome accents. It’s the SUV that’s designed with sports car lines, even if it sits a little higher off the ground than your typical sports car. The tail end is especially sporty, with tailpipe accents of chrome and a rear apron trimmed in silver chrome.

The interior manages to combine luxury, sporty, and rugged all in one. The black interior has an audacious red trim, just enough to remind you that this car is born of a manufacturer that crafts a fantastically sporty drive. The bottom of the steering wheel is flat, which is perfect if you’re the kind of driver who becomes one with the car and gets deeply involved with the experience and feel of driving. Mercedes-Benz has also added extra lateral support to the two front seats, so you’ll be comfortable and secure no matter how daring your driving is.

The GLC Coupe: Already Commanding Attention

The idea of turning an SUV into a coupe seems odd at first, until you see how Mercedes-Benz has done it. Then you’ll wonder why more cars don’t look this dashing. This future SUV coupe concept is “near-production-standard,” according to Mercedes-Benz. It takes everything you already love about the GLC class of SUVs and puts it into a more compact model. The synthesis is surprising: sporty coupe lines combined with a rugged SUV stance, an attractive marriage of two ideas.

The car’s looks combine a crouched, sporty profile with quintessential SUV elements, such as LED headlamps and 21-inch wheels. Unlike the GLE coupe, which was gorgeous but still mostly SUV in its styling, the GLC coupe is truly the best of both worlds. It’s shorter and smaller, creating a truly unique design. On its back end it boasts a four-pipe exhaust system, with two pipes stacked on each side. This sporty detail is just one more way Mercedes-Benz has set the design of this car apart from any potential competitors.

The GLC Coupe: Get Ready to Dream of Driving

Mercedes-Benz might not be ready to produce just yet, but they’ve given us a tantalizing taste of what we can expect from the GLC coupe in terms of performance and handling. Under the hood you’ll find a twin-turbo V-6 3.0-liter engine. A 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission combines with 4MATIC® all-wheel drive, and together the package is similar to the one you get in the GLC 43 AMG®. The GLC coupe gets 367 horsepower and 384 lbs-ft of torque.

Technically, the GLC coupe might continue to change. Mercedes-Benz encourages us on its U.S. page to “look for the spirit of the GLC Coupe” in its future vehicles but doesn’t yet offer information about when that might be or what the ultimate model will look like. Until then, we’ll just have to salivate over the available pictures and test drive the GLC 43 to get a taste of the Mercedes-Benz GLC experience.

A look at these two vehicles should get you excited about what Mercedes-Benz will soon be offering our Athens,GA showroom. Keep an eye on Mercedes-Benz of Athens so you can test drive the newest and the best as soon as it arrives.
