Mercedes-Benz introduces the 2018 E-Class Coupe
Mercedes-Benz recently unveiled the E-Class coupe for the upcoming 2018 model. The more aggressive luxury vehicle, fronted by a longer and more sculpted hood and frameless windows on all sides, emits an even flow and regal profile. The redesign comes on the heels of the Mercedes sedan redesign and the E 400 4MATIC®.
The new E-Class coupe is 4.8 inches longer than the 2017 version, tapping in at 190 inches of beautiful curves and pitched contours. Its other specs measure bigger as well, without bloat in the design: The car stands 56.3 inches tall and 73.2 inches wide. The height is up 1.3 inches, while the width expands the care by 2.9 inches. Every inch is used for additional passenger legroom, headroom throughout the car and rear shoulder room.
The 3.0 L V6 engine that initially came from the E 400 4MATIC® and E 400 is bi-turbo, producing 354 lb-ft torque and 329 hp. Drivers get a performance based 9 speed transmission and a higher standard for technology across the entire vehicle when compared to its predecessor. Most notable among the base trim is the active brake assist feature, giving the 2018 E-Class Coupe the ability to apply brakes immediately and automatically upon detecting a pedestrian that crosses in front of the car. Professional reviews of the 2018 E-Class Coupe revealed a performance that somehow improved upon the impressive 2017 version. Alongside the streamlined styling is a ride that is smoother and more powerful than any car in its class, arguably.
The incredibly unique diamond grille gives the driver a sense of unique purpose just staring at the lengthened body. Side mirrors actually have their mounts on the door frames, which all have side glass that is frameless for an added bit of style without sacrificing any stability. The slim rear horizontal taillights and spoiler trunk lid create perhaps the most beautiful car in the price range.
Although there is no V8 planned, the E-Class Coupe truthfully does not need it. The top notch AMG® model will have a 3.0 L 6 cylinder inline 450 hp engine that is also mated to the 9 speed automatic transmission. The ride is made to be smooth, with the assistance systems taking control during curves that could cause the car to drift. The technology in this car is truly impressive – it is constantly watching the driver. Even the slightest bit of inattention by the driver will cause an automatic, autonomous system to kick in and preserve the safety of the people inside. Correction mechanisms include lane protection, the aforementioned automated braking and pedestrian camera, and collision control.
The new E-Class Coupe is a powerful, smooth and aggressive vehicle that will likely be able to compete with any vehicle in its class. With a great look and feel that will only improve as we get closer to release, Mercedes should be proud of its work so far.
