Mercedes-Benz in Jurassic World

In the much anticipated new film, Jurassic World, the opening of a live dinosaur theme park turns out to be a horrific idea… Again. Velociraptors, an extremely hungry Indominus-Rex, and our old favorite, the Tyrannosaurus-Rex, all make appearances in the blockbuster movie. Also making an appearance, though, is the all-new 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, and the GLE is more than nimble enough to avoid being digested.

In addition to the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, the summer blockbuster Jurassic World also features the Mercedes-Benz Unimog. The Unimog is an extremely durable and agile heavy truck that “plays the role” of a dinosaur ambulance in the movie. A Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG® 6X6 SUVand a Sprinter van also have key roles which place the automaker in the spotlight. “The fleet of Mercedes-Benz vehicles fit perfectly into Jurassic World,” said producer Frank Marshall in a statement posted on the Mercedes-Benz Web site. “They are classy, sophisticated and sexy — exactly what would exist in a modern international theme park.”

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class will replace the familiar M-Class SUV (ML 350, ML550, and ML63). While the appearance and profile will share similarities, the GLE-Class will be outfitted with alloy wheels, new front and rear bumper covers, and upgraded headlights, as well as fresh color and trim combinations. It will also get new general dimensions.

Unlike its more “SUV-like” cousins, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe will present a taller, more windswept body with a sleeker “fastback” profile. It will share the same wheelbase as the current M-Class but the body will be 4-inches longer, 5-inches narrower, and 3-inches lower in overall height. What it may sacrifice in rear headroom and cargo capacity, it will more than compensate for in performance and handling prowess over the more spacious utility-focused models.

Maximum Dinosaur Evasion Capabilities

A diverse range of packages and options can convert the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class from an elegant family focused SUV, to a high-performance sport SUV — and anything in-between. Two intense versions of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe will be offered; the GLE 450 AMG® 4MATIC® Coupe and the GLE 63 AMG® S 4MATIC® Coupe. The GLE 450 Coupe will be equipped with a turbocharged V6 engine that manufactures 362-horsepower and 384 lb.-ft. of torque. It will be mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The GLE 63 Coupe gets a 577-horsepower turbocharged V8 engine and a 7-speed automatic transmission. Both coupes are equipped with all-wheel drive as standard equipment. The Mercedes-Benz AMG® brand is synonymous with expert craftsmanship, superior reliability, and extreme performance.

Making Tracks

All 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class SUVs feature dynamic driving modes which maximize steering and suspension capabilities (along with engine and transmission efficiency) to optimize comfort and performance. For the off-road aficionado, the GLE Coupe with 4MATIC® all-wheel drive presents an off-road package that features lower final drive gearing and a locking differential. Additionally, an optional air-suspension package delivers up to 11-inches of ground clearance. For the performance driving enthusiast, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe offers the Active Curve System that autonomously monitors and adjusts vehicle stability during cornering maneuvers, yielding higher levels of handling performance. Coupe models are also eligible for variable ratio steering systems that enhance steering feel and response during high-speed driving situations. A four-wheel independent suspension setup, with front and rear anti-sway bars, and alloy wheels wrapped in speed rated tires help to ensure that the GLE Coupe can handle the curves.
